We never, ever use piercing guns! These violent contraptions force a blunt object through your skin at high speed and slam on a back point that hold a lot of pressure on your new piercing. They also cannot be sterilised. This means that the body fluid from all previous clients is likely all over the machine that's about to break your skin. So in the interests the health of your piercing, and the prevention of spreading blood-borne pathogens such as HIV and hepatitis B & C, you should never get pierced with a piercing gun! Ensure that you always get pierced with single use, sterile needles (even for basic ear lobe piercings!)
All jewellery and tools are cleaned and sterilised in the Studio to ensure sterility. We use an autoclave to sterilise our items.
We also use sterile surgical gloves when performing body piercings to eliminate any risks of cross-contamination.
If you're considering having a piercing done, read through the Victorian Government Client Health Information sheet to gain a bit more info on how to look after it. Your piercer is obliged to give you proper and safe aftercare instructions anyway, but it's good to do a bit more research.
Ensure that the studio choose is up to par, and that you feel safe and comfortable in the environment. If you're unsure about something, then your piercer should be able to explain everything to you properly. There is no point in risking your long term health and safety for the sake of a piercing.
We will happily disinfect and install your jewelry back to its original hole for a small set-up fee of $10 or free with jewelry purchase. Jewelry removal is free of charge. Nostril screw adjustments are always free! (tip your piercer).
